What We Do
Last updated 22 November 2003
The majority of our work is associated with financial systems in one form or another. Although our most recent experience is with SAP R3, we have also worked with Oracle, PeopleSoft, Platinum and a range of less well-known systems. Our qualifications and expertise are in the management and implementation of financial systems, in accounting and in computer security. Accordingly, most of our work involves one or more of the following activities:
And, more recently, we have become involved in
the design and implementation intranets and web sites. With our background in
systems security, we believe we are well placed to suggest ways to secure a site
while at the same time implementing something which meets our clients needs and
expectations.
Most of our work involves larger systems, but we also solve problems with the way that people make use of programs such as Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access. We are quite familiar with the use of VBA for the automation of processes with these programs. We also help people with programs such as QuickBooks, point of sale software, and to a lesser extent, MYOB.
Sometimes we help people who have very old software - we have used quite a lot of it ourselves over the last twenty years and know the challenges which can be involved in deciphering older records. We have access to several older spreadsheet, word processing and database programs, and are able, in most cases, to import that data into more modern software.
We have links with people who design and trouble-shoot networks, and who work on computer forensics. One of those contacts has been very closely associated with the much-publicised "war-on-terror", recovering data from captured computer systems.
We have processes which will allow us to read output from older software which for various reasons cannot be read by upgraded versions or other programs. And, although we do not become involved in data recovery itself, we are very familiar with the procedures involved, and the precautions which must be taken to prevent total loss in the event of a system failure. We have access to a number of specialists who are able to recover data under a range of circumstances.
Finally, we develop small to medium-sized websites and the structures which support them. We develop complex VBA-based spreadsheets and Microsoft Access-based resource systems for people with a particularly messy and repetitive calculation, or a complex set of lookup options - things like bonus schemes, plant operating models, complex data access models. Contact us for more information about these.
If you have a tricky problem, contact us - we can probably help.
